Last week was the week of Facebook hell. I shared that my page had been under a “Facebook Link Ban“, meaning any link I shared would reach ZERO people. It was like I was a Facebook ghost.
It lasted exactly ONE WEEK to the hour. I checked on Friday at 6pm and I could preview scheduled posts with links again. I tested and scheduled a share with a link and it had reach, though it was small.
In our Facebook group, others had their link bans lifted in the exact same way – a full 7 days to the exact minute. However, some got banned AGAIN! They had shared a couple posts with links and suddenly they were in Facebook jail again without warning. Why? I don’t know. Facebook doesn’t tell you what is going on or what is triggering these bans.
Because of all this trouble, I’m seriously revamping my Facebook strategy. I’m not spending as much time and effort as I was before. Why bother if they can do this without even giving you any information?
I’m planning to leave most of the share groups I was in. I’m noticing these shares getting even lower reach than other types of posts.
I’m posting A LOT less. Right now, I’m posting myself and not paying a VA to share anything.
I’m trying to vary the posts I schedule. Photo uploads with a link are MY recipes only. I’m catching up on the shares I’m behind on in the groups. I’m “feeding Facebook” by sharing posts WITHOUT links.
I’ll keep an eye on the page for now and see what happens down the road. My focus this year is on Pinterest and SEO. Facebook has made it clear what they think of business pages with their new algorithm, glitches and bans.
